A Mission to Share World-Class Chamber Music

Matinee Musicale provides musical programs to conduct artistic, cultural, educational, and charitable activities. Our concert season consists of four performances of young, rising artists. We also sponsor a College Scholarship Recital which features twelve talented musicians from each of the three local colleges: University of Wisconsin-Superior, College of St. Scholastica, and University of Minnesota-Duluth. The students are selected by their music department and receive a scholarship award from Matinee Musicale.

Mark Niedermier became Matinee Musicale’s executive director in the summer of 2023, following a career in education. After teaching in Maryland and New York, Mark headed schools in St. Paul, Anchorage, Denver - and most recently, Many Rivers Montessori in Duluth. He brings expertise in marketing, advancement, special events and strategic planning to Matinee Musicale.

Mark’s BA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in Annapolis included studies in music history and theory, and he also attended the Guitar Study Center in New York City. Wherever he has lived, attending opera, chamber music and symphony performances has been a priority. He’ll always be looking forward to advancing Matinee Musicale’s role within Duluth’s vibrant arts community.
